Do people actually play these kinds of servers still?

Are you asking for post count? i mean it always depends on what certain people like this revision or not. most people are into the basic 317's though.

  2. Nice leak. And ace the combat is decent for starting out probably the best formulas base you could ask for. I'd suggest going over everything combat and just double checking because it's been known to have bugs.

I should perhaps have given more information on the thread itself, of what i am thinking of doing.
The idea is not to host a server that will be top listed, but just a small community based server, lets say max 40 players(which is more than i would expect).
But thats pretty much the "dream", to start off i would just like to simply work on a product and have friends test it.
So internet connection is the most important thing when it comes to hosting RSPS, not the hardware of the machine? - If thats so, would a NUC be able to handle it?
Now just speaking of old experience(5 years ago atleast) when deltascape got released, i hosted it and my internet at that time which was max 30/30, could handle 30 players without any issues.
So i was hoping that my 100/100 fiber could handle, as said before max 40 players on a "average" programmed server.

-And again, i would like to apologize if i was acting rude earlier.

You don't have to apologize to me bud, i'm more of a straight forward person, yes you could possibly manage that it would be close, id suggest creating a script to keep a server maintenance such as performance and make it print the band with withdraw but it should host a decent amount, the reason doing it from a pc is hard is maintaining the connection and making sure the server doesn't restart randomly.'

Also delta game engine was outdated even at its prime  that was back when we had no choices we have lots of decisions and choices now.

  5. If you are looking to do a project and create a rsps you are going to need a max performance for the players, (good game engine for the server as well) you will need to do commitments and by that i mean you will need to spend money to make money as i already stated the vps isn't the expensive part its the advertising for the server that becomes expensive. If you are looking to just learn and test a product then don't waste the money and port forward and host it local for friends to join id say maybe max of 20?

That sadly doesnt answer my question. But now that you say it, what connection is "average"?

Your question is answered you are thinking to hard. you will simply not surpass a stable connection with a medium player base.. i mean there's no other way to put it. If you want players you have to spend money, advertisement is the most expensive so if you cannot put the money in for a vps then don't bother. The internet connection is what players are pinging off of so if your internet is slow then your connection to host will be bad.

Hi there, i am trying to understand what hardware is most important for a host machine(ofcourse other than a well coded source), is it RAM, CPU, internet connection ?

Buy a vps to host the server running it off your self connection is just not enough.

  8. Why not make your own models its not to bad. and its very fun. if i were you id make realistic new npcs (custom) vs the item recolors they are very stressful on the eyes. so a nicely done npc like bosses would be cool. (check out the custom npc the guys been working on on rs.)
