    A RuneScape Private Server, or RSPS, is a custom-made multiplayer gaming server based on the popular game RuneScape. These servers are not affiliated with the original creators of RuneScape, Jagex, and as such, players cannot use their RuneScape account to access a RSPS or vice versa. RSPS were first created in 2005 for the purpose of studying game mechanics and creating bots for use on official RuneScape servers. Since then, thousands of unique RSPS have been created and a dedicated community has formed around them. Many players enjoy RSPS because they often offer modified gameplay experiences, such as faster character leveling and easier access to rare items. Some RSPS even have custom items, maps, and NPCs not found in the original game.
