Help Running Os Scape

TresPro

Recommended Posts

Hello! I am completely new to coding and the like, and all I want to do is load up the client and play it. I downloaded the file from oak tree's post. This is where I am at so far.

I have put the server and client files into eclipse. I have imported them both as a gradle. I have gotten 3 other rsps's to work in eclipse just by simply importing the source and client files and running them both as java but this is the first time I have tried to run a server that uses a gradle. I don't want to change anything about the server I just would like to play it and I don't understand how to launch it. I've spent many hours getting this far and I'm happy to learn whatever I need to to get it to run but I feel like anyone who knew what they were doing could get this running in five minutes and I have spent hours and hours trying to figure it out.

Also, it has a folder that has Deob in the name, but considering in the same folder I have the server and the client files I don't believe that I need this? Any and all help is appreciated. I have watched a ton of youtube videos and read other forums posts. I don't know how to run the gradle project through java. Or whatever I need to do to make it run. I know that I have to have the server running first and then the client. Thanks so much! If you could please pm me or reply on here all help would be appreciated.

When you use Gradle, it may be better to use IntelliJ IDE, as it's cleaner and has integrated support for Gradle/Maven projects. You have to first "install" it. So look for the "Play" button (it may be grayed out) and near it should be some Run configurations. You can also (on the right hand side after importing) find a tab that says "Gradle". Most Gradle build options should be in that menu.

Update: Played with the Gradle buildscripts a bit and managed to get as far as getting the server started before it failed due to SQL servers being down. You will most likely need to install MySQL on your computer as well. As it was intended to be a multi-world system, the server uses SQL for managing Playersaves, Friends list, etc. Looks like they originally had a JSON-based save system and gave up on it.
