I've been doing research online and trying get this pre made server running so I can play by myself but I'm running into difficulties and cant figure out where I'm going wrong. Please if you can help me it would be greatly appreciated. 

Download gradle latest release, lombok and jre/jdk8. And for choice of IDE I'd suggest jetbrains intelli j

Your jdk release should match your jre se release, 1.8.0_211 or close to that?

I'd recommend doing some practice projects just to get used to java and gradle/maven. It's going to be very hard to troubleshoot issues when you don't understand what's going on.

im trying to run the xeros stuff but idk what to do anytips?

What errors are you running into? You're not giving much to go off.
