What Happened (The Scam Method)
The Theft: Velion managed to get a hold of my project's client and cache files.
The "0-Byte" Lie: When confronted, he tried to cover his tracks by gaslighting me, claiming the files he took were completely empty ("0 bytes") and that he didn't actually have anything of value.
The Extortion: Right after claiming he had "nothing," he completely contradicted himself by demanding a cash payout. He explicitly stated that if I do not pay him, he will leak my server files to the public.
For those who know how RSPS architecture works, his story makes no sense. He tried to use technical confusion to make me think I was safe so I would let my guard down, while simultaneously using the stolen files as leverage for blackmail. You cannot threaten to leak a project while claiming your copies are 0-byte corrupt files.
IfVelion / guesswho_96approaches you offering services, asking to look at your code, or wanting to partner on a project, block him immediately. He is untrustworthy, incompetent at hiding his intentions, and will attempt to hold your hard work hostage the moment he gets access to your files.
To the community:Keep your repositories private, never trust this individual with your file access, and frequently update your VPS and database credentials. Don't let people like this ruin your project.
