MMOexp POE: Campaign Changes Make Early Progression Easier

(0 reviews)

The Voyage league introduces one of the deepest and most rewarding mechanics Path of Exile has seen in years. Instead of POE currency a simple encounter, it combines combat buffs, underwater exploration, crafting, and large-scale Voyages into a progression system that constantly rewards efficient play. Whether you're still leveling or already farming Tier 16 maps, understanding how these mechanics work will dramatically improve your currency generation and crafting potential.

Campaign Changes Make Early Progression Easier

Before diving into the league mechanic itself, several quality-of-life improvements make the campaign significantly smoother.

The new socket color system greatly reduces the need for Chromatic Orbs, although Chromes themselves are surprisingly rare. Many players report feeling stronger throughout the campaign thanks to easier gearing.

Mercenaries are another standout addition. A well-equipped mercenary can carry difficult encounters during leveling, making progression far more forgiving. Even if your build isn't fully online yet, your mercenary can handle much of the early combat.

Part 1: Open League Chests for Powerful Zone Buffs

Throughout the campaign and maps, you'll encounter three special chest types.

Each chest requires defeating nearby enemies before claiming its reward, and every chest grants a temporary zone-wide bonus.

The three variants include:

Coral Chests – summon helpful crabs after defeating rare or unique monsters.

Pirate Chests – dramatically increase Gold drops from enemies.

Cursed Chests – by far the strongest option.

Cursed Chests permanently possess your character for the remainder of the current zone. While possessed, you gain massive movement speed, increased damage, and powerful offensive bonuses normally reserved for Tormented Spirits.

The buff is incredibly powerful during both the campaign and endgame mapping, making these chests worth prioritizing whenever possible.

Part 2: Farm Charts Efficiently

Charts are the core progression item dropped by all league chests.

After collecting them, store them in the dedicated Chart inventory and speak with Valerie aboard the Sovereign's Boat to begin a Chart run.

These mini expeditions function similarly to simplified Heists.

Your goal is simple:

Move as quickly as possible.

Collect Deadman's Sulphur.

Grab valuable Messages in a Bottle.

Escape before the area collapses.

#Enable Auto Lantern Placement

After completing the tutorial, enable Auto Lanterns.

This automatically places lanterns while moving underwater, allowing you to focus entirely on navigation and loot collection instead of manually managing every placement.

This greatly speeds up every run.

Prioritize Speed Over Full Clearing

Unlike traditional mapping, fully clearing monsters isn't the most efficient strategy.

Instead:

Rush toward reward locations.

Follow the green ghost flames to Deadman's Sulphur deposits.

Pick up valuable Messages in a Bottle.

Return to the entrance before the collapse timer expires.

Enemies continue granting experience, but most of the value comes from Sulphur, Gold, and currency rather than monster drops.

Fast builds like Toxic Rain Pathfinder excel because they can complete Charts extremely quickly.

Use Deadman's Sulphur for Better Crafting

Deadman's Sulphur powers one of cheap POE orbs the league's strongest crafting systems.

Instead of blindly using valuable crafting currency, combine an item, crafting currency, and Sulphur at the crafting station below deck.
